Dr. Meekins provides outpatient psychiatric treatment for children, adolescents, adults and families. He performs comprehensive evaluations and formulates multi-faceted treatment plans with his patients and their families. He has extensive experience and expertise in treating a wide variety of conditions including: ADHD, Oppositional Defiant Disorder, Autism Spectrum Disorders, as well as Mood and Anxiety Disorders.
Dr. Meekins utilizes a variety of treatment modalities including medication management, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), and supportive therapy. He also provides education and training to parents on behavior management techniques.
Dr. Meekins earned his Bachelors of Science degree from Duke University, where he majored in Biology and Environmental Sciences & Policy. He received his medical degree from Tulane University in New Orleans, Louisiana before completing his Adult Psychiatry Residency Training at the University of Virginia. Dr. Meekins then completed training in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at the Medical University of South Carolina. Dr. Meekins is Board Certified in both Adult Psychiatry and Child & Adolescent Psychiatry. He is currently an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at MUSC.
