Debra holds a faculty position as a Clinical Counselor at MUSC Institute of Psychiatry. Her focus is bereavement/loss, and she works primarily with adults in middle years. Other interests include anxiety, mood disorders, and posttraumatic stress.
Debra is a College of Charleston graduate with a BS cum laude in Psychology; she received an MSW cum laude from the University of South Carolina. She has worked in college, hospital, and family treatment settings providing individual, family, marital, group and multi-family group psychotherapy. Her group concentration has been in grief and trauma recovery. Her practice is informed by evidence-based treatments including cognitive behavioral therapy, brief solution-focused therapy, motivational enhancement therapy, and prolonged exposure therapy.
When not at work, Debra embraces time and laughter with family and friends. She is spiritual, and interests reflect her passion for nature and creativity.
